How to check your download
Each release includes SHA256SUMS.txt, which lists a checksum for every file. After downloading, compute the checksum and compare it with the line for your file name.
# Windows (PowerShell)
Get-FileHash .\photocraft-0.8.2-windows-x64.msi -Algorithm SHA256
# macOS
shasum -a 256 photocraft-0.8.2-macos-universal.dmg
# Linux
sha256sum photocraft-0.8.2-linux-x86_64.AppImage
If the two values differ, delete the file and download it again from the official page. More on this in Is PhotoCraft safe?
Avoid look-alike downloads
“PhotoCraft” is a common name. App stores carry several unrelated photo apps called PhotoCraft or Photo Craft from other publishers, and third-party download sites repackage the installer. The open-source editor described here comes only from getartcraft.com and the storytold/photocraft repository on GitHub. File names start with photocraft- followed by the version number.
Older versions
Earlier builds and their notes stay on the GitHub releases page. PhotoCraft has shipped a new version every one to three days since its first release, so the latest is almost always the one to use. See the PhotoCraft changelog.
PhotoCraft download questions
Where is the official PhotoCraft download?
On the PhotoCraft page at getartcraft.com, and on the releases page of the storytold/photocraft repository on GitHub. This site hosts no installers.
Which PhotoCraft file do I need on Windows?
Most PCs need the x64 installer, photocraft-0.8.2-windows-x64.msi. Snapdragon and other ARM PCs need the arm64 file, and old 32-bit systems need the x86 file. Each also comes as a portable zip that needs no installation.
Does PhotoCraft work on Apple silicon Macs?
Yes. There is one universal macOS build that runs on both Apple silicon and Intel Macs. The project says it is signed and notarized.
Is there a PhotoCraft for Linux?
Yes, for x86_64 and ARM64, as an AppImage, a Flatpak bundle, a .deb, an .rpm or a plain tarball. There is also a RISC-V build.
Is there a PhotoCraft app for iPhone, iPad or Android?
The official releases list Windows, macOS, Linux, FreeBSD and a web build only. Phone and tablet apps with a similar name in app stores are different products from other publishers.
Can I use PhotoCraft in the browser?
The project publishes a WebAssembly build, photocraft-web-0.8.2.zip, as a static site you can host on any static server and open in a modern browser.
How do I check that my PhotoCraft download is genuine?
Each release includes a SHA256SUMS.txt file with a checksum for every build. Compute the SHA-256 of your file and compare it with the line for that file name.
